In this case what you can do is to extract the main and the core part of the firmware with Flasher option -r and then flash the main firmware with Flasher. There are other drives that can make use of the FUA bit. One update written for a GH40L did produce some errors … essentially the update was unable to initialize the drive and just hung … required to be ended through the task manager.

First put the drive into safe mode: I tried all of the updates you suggested, plus the flasher software … none of them were able to update this particular OEM drive while in safe mode … appears the programming is able to recognize this drive in safe mode but unable to complete the update tasks involved ….
