Now that the KX is here and shipping in full volume, we’re seeing a flood of motherboard manufacturers jump on the Athlon bandwagon.

This obviously helps to make sure that the gz-7vx cables does not need to go around the CPU, which may improve airflow. Gigabyte also took a lot of effort to redesign the board, as the board looks quite different from the reference design.

Gigabyte GA-7VX-1 – motherboard – ATX – Slot A – KX133
The latest Socket-A motherboard from Gigabyte, the GA-7ZXR, was not a particularly impressive one – it did get the job done just fine, but it did not really offer anything to make it stand out either.
From a motherboard manufacturer’s perspective, the KX also helps reduce manufacturing costs thanks to the ease of designing a 4-layer PCB with this chipset and the giabyte of integration offered by the VIA A South Bridge, one of the components of the KX chipset.
