Saying that it was easy to adjust and the set up options are impressive and they did effect ball flight. Andrew achieved slightly more left bias with the M2 D-Type, which was what he wanted for his tee game. To me the squared off head looks clumsy behind the ball although I can see how it could give more confidence to some players and I found the ball flight, in terms of penetration, and sound a little disappointing and overall the club seemed to lack a bit of feel and performance for a club at this end of the market. Throughout the PGA Tour season, it was consistently used as a prototype by Nike Golf athletes and the results spoke for themselves. My only complaints would be that the sound and the feel which are more “artificial” than the old model and that I find it flies a little lower than the old SQ Sumo with the equivalent loft.

This is definitely one of the best sounding square drivers we have tested and the feel right across the face was very good too. The head has a nice shape and not very distracting like previous Nike offerings, except for the Sasquatch Tour. I am definitely in the market for one of the STR8 drivers now.

Posted 01 August – The best Nike driver yet was the SQ Tour. We would take this driver over the Square version of the Dymo STR8-Fit driver, but it is really down to personal preference. NIKE could have cut this down to a few languages in a number of printed versions of the manual and target shipped the different manuals to the different global markets.
I was amazed how strr8 it changed going from just square to 2 degrees open. If you are a lover of Nike drivers then give it a try as it may be for you.

On a simulator and launch monitor I found it to be longer than the R9 and preferred the feel and ball flight better, which might be attributable to the shaft. Through the magic of this simple technology, golfers now are empowered to control their ball flight by manually selecting face and lie angles in one simple shaft and club head position. Posted 05 August – I had a choice of drivers to compare.
It has it’s own sound, but nothing like the or Sumos. The ball just seemed to stay on the same trajectory and carry forever and got plenty of bounce and run at the end.
This means you can unscrew the head with a wrench and set the lie and loft to play the golf shot you prefer. I also found an extra bit hike consistency with the Square version than I did with the normal club and although I have shied away from square models in the past more evidence like that would maybe persuade me in the future. I assume NIKE is wanting jike instruction page to be the Rosetta Stone for how to adjust the clubhead of their driver.

Looks and feel are subjective, of course, but to me the improvement was night and day. If you can’t find a setting to match you swing with this, you are in trouble. Distance is maximized in every loft by varying multiple specifications from lie angle, to MOI and CG placement, to overall head size and face depth.
